CAUTION: Music to be listened to under the supervision of children!

Singer Sarah Shannon was the lead singer of lauded ‘90s indie-pop band Velocity Girl (on Seattle's Sub Pop label) and has since recorded two solo albums under her own name.

As Sarah grew up and became a parent, she and some other musician friends felt that need that most parents do--to integrate the challenges and joys of having kids with doing what they love most. Together, they decided to create great music for children while also using their talents and experience in the non-profit sector to raise funds for causes that support families, children, and the arts. Rhythm guitarist Danny is a former social worker who worked for 10 years with homeless youth; guitarist Tom is an elementary school teacher for special needs children; and bassist Nori is undergoing training as a yoga therapist at the Samarya Center, a studio that specializes in helping children with a host of challenges, from autism to depression.

The Not-Its! sound is unique in the realm of kids’ music: crunchy, rockin’ guitars combined with smooth, four-part harmonies, all nestled within perfectly crafted pop gems that just happen to be about every-day kid stuff (the first day of school, taking a bath).

The response from audiences has been overwhelming. "We know we have something special. We’ve had parents approach us after every show, thanking us for making this music. And knowing that what we're doing is making a small difference in the world is icing on the cake."
